Scholarship Award

The scholarship competition is open to high school seniors in the tri-state area. Five winners will receive a grant, in conjunction with the New York Knickerbockers towards their academic and personal needs.  Please read the instructions and eligibility requirements and criteria.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Application must be submitted no later than April 2, 2007

Due to the volume of applications received, the Latino College Expo Scholarship Committee will not be able to respond to any questions regarding the status of your application during the competition. Only Finalists will be notified by mail and/or phone. Finalists should be prepared to be interview that week.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND CRITERIA

• Application must be a U.S. citizen and/or Permanent Resident
• Applicant must be a high school senior planning to attend a full time college or university in the fall of 2005.
• Minimum 4 year high school average of 85% and 1000 + SAT score.

INSTRUCTIONS

• You must provide high school transcripts. Your applications will not be processed unless all transcriptions are attached to the application
• List any academic accomplishments, honors, or advance placement courses you have completed or are currently taking with grades.
• Include two teacher recommendations.
• Provide a (250+ words) essay on the following (pick one):

1. Choose a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence.
2. In my opinion a perfect world (Utopia) would have the following ...
3. In looking back at the 20th Century, rank the top 2 or 3 events that have helped to shape this world.  Please explain.
